About Granite Safety
Most safety LMSs in America are content companies that bolted software onto a course catalog. Granite Safety is the inverse — a platform built by the people running the highest-stakes job sites in the country.
The thesis. Safety training in America is sold by content companies that bolted software onto a course catalog. Granite Safety is starting from the inverse — a platform-first product designed by the people running stadium and hospital construction this week. Built by Joe Henricks (OSHA 500 trainer, BCSP-credentialed, CICTI instructor, 2025 ASSP Safety Professional of the Year) and Fred Wilton (BCSP CSP, LEED AP, 25-plus years of West Coast construction safety leadership).
The premise in one breath
The legacy safety-training vendors — ClickSafety, 360training, Vector Solutions — were built around a course catalog. Software came later, often through acquisition. The customer experience reflects that origin: dated UI, federated logins, generic toolbox PDFs, certificates that have to be verified by phone, and a relationship that ends the day the card is mailed.
Granite Safety is the inverse. Platform first. Written by an OSHA 500 Authorized Trainer who is on a stadium right now and a BCSP CSP who supervised safety for Clark Construction's West Coast division. The course catalog is honest about what it is — training built to OSHA Outreach standards (federal card issuance on the launch roadmap) plus the specialty courses that close real-world supervisor-competency gaps. The platform is honest about what it is — a Knowledge-Gap Engine, an Incident-to-Training Loop, public certificate verification, on-demand site-specific toolbox talks, and bulk crew enrollment. Read the platform deep dive.
The founders
Joe Henricks founded Professional Safety & Management — the operating company that puts him on a job site every day. He personally holds the OSHA 500 Authorized Trainer authorization, the BCSP ASP and CHST credentials, and the CICTI instructor authorization for healthcare-construction infection control. He is the 2025 ASSP Safety Professional of the Year. He directly supervises safety on the Athletics' new Las Vegas Stadium ($2 billion Mortenson-McCarthy build, 2028 MLB opening) and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the venue slated to co-host the 2028 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Fred Wilton co-founded Granite Safety with Joe. He holds the BCSP Certified Safety Professional credential — the gold standard for occupational safety in the United States — and the LEED AP. He earned a B.S. in Safety Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and has spent the 25-plus years since inside the construction-safety practice. Western Regional Safety Director at Clark Construction, supervising 14 safety professionals across $1.2B/year of West Coast work. Lead Site Safety and Health Officer on the $480 million Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital. Founder of Synergy Safety Solutions. Cal/OSHA expert witness.

"Most safety training feels like compliance theater. We built this because the crews on our sites deserved better."

The brand promise
Anti-jargon. Audit-grade. Verifiable. We do not say "synergy." We do not say "ecosystem." We do not say "AI-powered" without telling you exactly what the AI is reading and what it does with the answer. Stats are sourced inline — every claim on the site has a URL behind it. Every certificate carries a public verification URL. Every founder has a credential a regulator can look up in a public directory.
If we ship something we cannot defend in an audit, we have failed the brand premise. The whole reason this company exists is that the legacy vendors fail that test routinely.
Why now
5,070 U.S. workers died on the job in 2024 — a fatality rate of 3.3 per 100,000 full-time-equivalent workers (BLS CFOI, 2024). Construction and extraction recorded 1,032 of those fatalities at a rate of 9.2 per 100,000 — the fourth-highest among major industries. Falls killed 389 construction workers in 2024, about 38% of all construction fatalities. Fall Protection has been OSHA's most-cited standard fifteen years running. The training that prevents the same ten violations every year exists. It is not getting to the foreman in a way that sticks. We are building a platform to fix that.
