The short answer. This is the supervisor-grade construction safety curriculum, built to OSHA Outreach 30-Hour Construction standards. It covers general construction safety competency for foremen, supervisors, and safety leads. Federal OSHA Outreach card issuance is on the platform launch roadmap; current students receive a verifiable course-completion certificate. Joe Henricks personally holds OSHA 500 Authorized Trainer credentials.

The 30-Hour curriculum is the supervisor-grade orientation to U.S. construction safety. It covers the OSHA Focus Four hazards — falls, struck-by, caught-in or -between, electrocution — that drive the majority of construction fatalities, plus PPE, recordkeeping, multi-employer worksite duties, and the construction standards that draw the most citations year after year.

The Granite Safety version is taught with specifics from real stadium and healthcare jobs. Examples come from active steel erection, ICRA-aligned hospital construction, and multi-employer build sites where ten trade contractors are on the gate by 6:30 a.m. — not from stock footage.

For supervisors with decision-making authority on the job site, the 30-Hour curriculum is the orientation. For competent-person responsibilities (fall hazard authorization, confined-space entry supervision), it pairs with one of our specialty courses — see Fall Protection Competent Person and Confined Space Competent Person.

What you'll learn

The Granite Safety 30-Hour Construction curriculum maps to the OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements. Modules:

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Managing Safety and Health
  • Focus Four — Falls
  • Focus Four — Struck-By
  • Focus Four — Caught-In or -Between
  • Focus Four — Electrocution
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Health Hazards in Construction
  • Stairways and Ladders
  • Tools — Hand and Power

Who it's for

Construction supervisors, foremen, safety leads, project managers, and trade contractors with crew-management or safety-decision authority. If you sign off on toolbox talks, run a competent-person inspection, or stand in front of an OSHA inspector when one shows up — the 30-Hour curriculum is the baseline.

Certificate validity — federal vs state plans

Federal OSHA Outreach cards (issued by OSHA-authorized trainers) are recognized in all 50 U.S. states and valid five years from the date of issue. Granite Safety's curriculum is built to those standards; federal Outreach card issuance is on our platform launch roadmap. A few states layer additional rules on top of the federal program:

  • California (Cal/OSHA) — state-plan additions and additional Outreach requirements.
  • New York — NYC Site Safety Training (SST) cards required for New York City construction sites.
  • Nevada — additional state-plan requirements on certain projects.
  • Massachusetts — state-plan additions on public works.

We flag the state-specific add-ons during enrollment. Read the state validity FAQ.
